2008 Winner Brian Herman & Handmade Championship Spurs

2008 –– $20,328

Competing for $20,000 in prize money, the Slick Rock Challenge hosted 54 PBR bull riders from across the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Brazil, in the 2-day event. Cowboys were matched against over 65 of the PBR's top bulls including World Finals bulls such as Avalanche and Smash Hit; Diamond S Bucking Bulls, Blaze and Shane; Herbert Bucking Bulls, Cadillac Man and Sharp Shooter; Riley Bucking Bulls and Flat Creek, Loudemy Bucking Bulls. PBR top 45 riders such as L. J. Jenkins, Francisco Morales, Brian Herman, Ednei Camirihas, Francisco Torres and McKIennon Wimberly competed alongside Rocksprings' own PBR favorite Ryan Shanklin and open bull rider Elliot Jacoby of Johnson City, Texas.

Herman of Victoria, Texas scored 89.5 points on the bull Missfit from Herbert Bucking Bulls. This top score not only earned him the championship title at the event, but also $6,346.08 in prize monies and the first set of handmade, Rocksprings, TX PBR spurs. When asked if the spurs would be placed in his trophy case at home, Hermon proudly replied, "No ... these spurs will go right on my boots."
